Breathing
Breathe continuously in a slow, regular rhythm while holding the position. Shorten or stop the hold if you cannot breathe normally.
Getting your next view ready…
The Alternating Hang Clean primarily works the hamstrings, with the biceps, calves, forearms, glutes, lower back and traps supporting the movement. It is a strength movement performed with kettlebells.

1 / 2How to
Movement instructions
Place two kettlebells between your feet. To get in the starting position, push your butt back and look straight ahead.
Clean one kettlebell to your shoulder and hold on to the other kettlebell in a hanging position. Clean the kettlebell to your shoulder by extending through the legs and hips as you pull the kettlebell towards your shoulders. Rotate your wrist as you do so.
Lower the cleaned kettlebell to a hanging position and clean the alternate kettlebell. Repeat.

Your progress
Keep the same kettlebells setup, range of motion and recording method when comparing Alternating Hang Clean sessions.
Weight, repetitions and completed sets.
Example: 3 sets of 8 reps at 30 kg. Next time, record the actual result, even if it is the same.
Look for more repetitions at the same weight, or a heavier weight for comparable repetitions. Total weight lifted also changes when you add sets, so it is not a strength score.
